Part 1: Coming and Going – U.K. Tax Considerations
11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. EDT
If you are considering relocating from the U.K. to the Cayman Islands or you are a former U.K. resident who lives in the Cayman Islands but has assets, including inherited assets, in the U.K., there are important points to take into consideration. The U.K. tax authorities have become increasingly more aggressive with respect to taxation of the assets and investments of persons who have not effectively left the U.K. This segment will be of interest to people who are thinking about leaving the U.K. for the Cayman Islands as well as people from the U.K. who currently reside in the Cayman Islands but have residual ties to the U.K.
Part 2: U.S. Tax Compliance for Cayman Companies and Residents
12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. EDT
The U.S. has recently adopted new legislation that requires persons outside the U.S., including entities formed in the Cayman Islands, to submit information to the I.R.S. pertaining to assets held outside the U.S. directly by U.S. persons or in which U.S. persons may have an interest. This segment will be of interest to managers, brokers and other service providers who have clients who are U.S. persons.
