Solomon Harris Expands Litigation Practice
Cayman Islands law firm, Solomon Harris, has added two new attorneys to the firm's litigation practice bringing the firm's total head count to 30. Tom Wright and Kai McGriele were recently admitted to practice in the Cayman Islands. McGriele joins the firm from Appleby in Jersey and has 7 years' experience in general commercial litigation. Wright has an extensive background in dispute resolution and came to the firm after being with Porter Chamberlain LLP in London.
Sophia Harris, the firm's Managing Partner, commented, "Notwithstanding the challenging global economic times, Cayman continues to hold its own in the international finance market and the firm remains confident about the future. This latest addition of lawyers with the level of expertise that the firm strives to maintain, is evidence of our continuing commitment to the Islands and the firm's own strong position in the industry".
"I am very much looking forward to working with Solomon Harris' litigation team during this exciting and dynamic time for the firm," stated McGriele.
Wright added: "I am proud to have joined Solomon Harris, and am excited to be part of the expansion of such a well-respected litigation department."
The firm sees the addition of McGriele and Wright as a prime opportunity to grow its insolvency, restructuring and dispute resolution department. Laura Hatfield, the lead partner in that department, and who was recently named "Attorney of the Year" in the World Finance Legal Awards for 2012, commented, "We are pleased to have attracted such quality attorneys as Kai and Tom to join our team. They will help us build on the reputation we have established for responsiveness and providing commercially orientated advice in a user friendly manner."
Paul Scrivener, of the firm's corporate/commercial department remarked, "I am delighted with the firm's continuing growth and the niche that we have been able to carve out for ourselves in the offshore legal market. It takes sustained commitment to build a quality brand for legal services but the hard work and dedication over the past 14 years by everyone associated with Solomon Harris has enabled us to firmly establish our place as one of the most well-respected law firms in the Cayman Islands. Our commitment now is to build upon this solid foundation as we push forward with the next stage in the firm's development."
